The proposed operations of offloading, repacking and re-loading cement happens within just a few metres of peoples front rooms–these local residents will be directly subjected to the Health & Air Quality issues discussed in ‘Health & Air Quality’ .
In addition to the health and air quality matters discussed in section 1 ,these particular residents will be subject to severe property damage as discussed in section 2.
Now, why is this a concern?
The building that MCL Solutions Ltd propose to use is not for purpose. It was designed as a warehouse in the late 1960s and early 1970s, it is not a purpose built sealed building. It is an asbestos roofed brick building with a lean to frontage with massive roller shutter doors. Even with the best of intentions you could not keep cement dust inside!
The image above clearly demonstrates the large equipment intended for use. You will note that part of the canopy has had to be cut away in order to allow powder blowing equipment to fit under – this will not and cannot fit through the roller shutter doors fitted on the premises.
Note also, the holiday homes very close to the proposed cement handling building. Airbourne cement and silica will affect these holidaymakers.
